Trauma-informed Treatment
As parents and caregivers, we want the best for our children.
We strive to provide them with a safe and nurturing environment that allows them to grow and thrive. Despite our best efforts, life can throw unexpected challenges in their way—challenges like trauma that can have lasting effects on a child’s mental health. That’s why it is so important for us to be aware of the signs and symptoms of trauma in our children, and when necessary seek out help from professionals who specialize in treating those affected by traumatic events or experiences.

Trauma-informed Treatment is an evidence-based approach designed specifically to address issues related to traumatic experiences or events experienced by individuals at any age. This type of therapy focuses on understanding how past traumas may be impacting current thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, while also providing support during recovery from these traumas through therapeutic interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), psychoeducation, and mindfulness practices. Trauma-informed Treatments aim not only at alleviating symptoms, but also helping individuals develop coping and problem-solving skills, which will allow them better manage stressors throughout their lives going forward.
We are trained and experienced in offering these evidence-based Trauma-informed Treatments, and offer both virtual and in-person therapy sessions.
For many families seeking help for their child’s mental health needs after experiencing a traumatic event, finding therapists trained in this specialized field may prove difficult due to limited availability of services within geographic areas, long waitlists, and scheduling barriers. However, at Sage & Anchor we have you covered! We are trained and experienced in offering these evidence-based Trauma-informed Treatments, and offer both virtual and in-person therapy sessions. We have flexible scheduling, including evenings and weekends, and are In-Network with most BlueCross BlueShield of North Carolina (BCBSNC) commercial plans, including their State Health Plan. Most of these plans cover sessions related directly towards addressing issues associated with childhood trauma, making access more affordable than ever before!
Ultimately, it is up to each family to determine what kind of treatment works best given the individual circumstances; however, having knowledge about available options, including those focused specifically around managing both the short- and long-term effects of past traumas, provides valuable insight into helping your child heal emotionally and be better prepared for challenging times ahead!
